Introducing Energize’s New Staff Members

As everybody knows, September is international square dance month. Here at Energize NY, we’ve decided to honor this special occasion by adding a few more dance partners to the Energize NY office. Now we can finally do-si-do comfortably. In addition to Tom Bregman (Executive Director/Dance Captain) and Heather Rae (Program Support Manager), there are some special new additions to our energy experts.

Heather Flournoy- Community Outreach Director

Heather has 20 years of experience working with mission-driven businesses, entrepreneurs and nonprofits to build their community presence, strengthen existing relationships, build their following and loyalty, and create internal enthusiasm. She comes to Energize NY from Really Social Strategies, a social media and grassroots marketing company she co-founded in 2009. She is presently the owner of Katonah Green, an online sustainable living network that includes a website, blog, Meetup group, and other online resources. In addition to being an instrumental part of planning Westchester’s 2012 Regional Leadership Summit, Heather is the Chair of the Town of Lewisboro's Sustainability Committee. Her strong record of community involvement and Westchester-based commitment make her an integral part of the Energize NY Team. Heather first became acquainted with Energize NY back in 2009, when it was just a sparkle in Bedford 2020’s eye. Her company, Really Social Strategies designed Energize’s first website in 2010, and Heather worked on the customer interaction aspect of Bedford 2020’s Energy Action Day in 2011. We are thrilled that she has become a permanent member of the Energize NY Team.

Elyssa Rothe- Community Outreach Associate

Elyssa Rothe has been representing the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority’s (NYSERDA) energy efficiency incentive programs, in various capacities for 5 years. She is currently working part-time with Energize NY, and also works part time as the Outreach Coordinator for Westchester and Putnam’s Green Jobs-Green NY program, housed at Westchester Residential Opportunities. Elyssa comes to Energize NY from NYSERDA’s Energy $mart Communities program, where she was the Westchester/Bronx Coordinator since 2007. She currently serves as the Secretary of the Board of Directors for SPARC Inc., (Special Program and Resource Connection) a non-profit agency dedicated to the provision of high quality Therapeutic Recreation for individuals with developmental disabilities. She expects to receive a Professional Certificate in Fundraising and Grant Writing from New York University in Spring 2013

Bobby Veit- Office Coordinator

Bobby Veit is a full time geek who has had a lifetime passion for technology . Computers and renewable energy are at the forefront of this unyielding obsession. Trained as a young Jedi  for twenty years in the corporate IT environment, he has spent the last several years helping to run a local Mom & Pop business. More street trained then school taught, Bobby has the capacity to wear many hats in one day and is able to organize the universe into rows and columns, which is something a true geek enjoys. When not filling his head with tech news or working at Energize NY, Bobby dabbles in podcasting, some writing and enjoys teaching other folks just how cool their shiny new Apple product can be.

Lauren Brois- Energize Associate

Lauren Brois graduated from SUNY New Paltz with a BS in Education and minors in Environmental Studies and Visual Arts. At SUNY New Paltz she was the Recycling Coordinator, working to educate students, staff, and faculty on proper recycling rules and the value of recycling through large scale events, consumption demonstrations and interactive programs. Lauren volunteers with Bedford 2020 by creating informal video spotlights on community members who are adopting greener practices in their homes and businesses. On the weekends she is a nature guide at Teatown Nature Preserve and enjoys visiting museums, traveling and taking photos. Lauren is excited to begin working as an intern at Energize and is looking forward to helping people sign up for Home Energy Assessments!
